What is Hack-in-Scratch?
Hack-in-Scratch, put on by Cal Poly SLO's Computer Engineering Society, is meant to be a fun and unique hackathon where projects are required to be made in the Scratch programming language! Teams will create exciting and practical projects solving real problems while having fun and meeting new people!

9:00AM - 9:30AM: Check-in
9:45AM - 10:00AM: Opening ceremony
10:00AM: Hacking starts!
12:00PM: Lunch
1:00PM-1:45PM: Bob Ross MS Paint Workshop
4:00PM-4:45PM: Smash Tournament
6:00PM: Submissions due! (see below for what to submit for your project to be eligible for winning)
6:00PM: Dinner
6:30PM: Judging deliberation starts
6:45PM: Raffle winner announced
7:00PM: Judging concludes
7:30PM - 8:00PM: Closing ceremony and conclusions
Requirements
What to Build
Project requirements will be discussed during the opening ceremony at April 24th, 9:45am.
What to Submit
The following things are required for a submission to be considered eligible for winning prizes:
- Link to a Scratch project created by you/your team, which must have not been created earlier than the start date of April 24th, 10am.
- Demo video and screenshots of you/your team talking about your Scratch project - videos must not be longer than 3 minutes!
- Any other resources you used to create your Scratch project

Most Incorporation of Cal Poly Themes
How well does your project incorporate various themes from Cal Poly? Is it cohesive and/or polished, and not overbearing?
People's Choice Award
You get to pick who wins this prize! Which project do you think should win this award, and why?
Most Creative Project
How much does your project stand out from the rest? Does the project execute a new idea or a new approach to an existing one?
Most Impactful Project
How much real-world impact does your project have in a practical sense?
Most Technically Challenging Project
Did you/your team have to overcome serious technical challenges in order to reach your end goal, particularly with all projects being written in Scratch?

Technical Difficulty
Does the project have some aspect that was technically challenging and/or difficult to overcome? In particular, did the aspect of Scratch being the development platform introduce any additional complexity? -
Originality
How original is the project/idea behind the project? Is it entirely novel, or at least take on a new perspective to an existing problem? -
Polish
How "finished" does the project look? Would you/your team be proud to release it into the world in its current state? Does everything work as expected? -
Usefulness
How practical is the project? Can it be translated into something that people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people could/would have?
